You are Blooming Dandelion, but are generally known by your street name; Meepis. You, like apparently many others, came in search of a mythical amulet said to grant incredible power, wealth or knowledge.

For you, you hope it grants great wealth! You’ve always had to scrap by life due to your unpredictable and disorderly attitude, you’ve been exiled and kicked from villages, inns, even bathrooms… so tis’ not like the dungeon is going to deter you one bit. You’re no stranger to adversity, and after a looong expedition to the mythical place that houses this artifact.

You finally walk into the dungeon. There is a door in front of you. The trip was long and arduous so you currently lack a bit of self motivation however.
What do now?

First things, there’s 2 unassuming rocks on your left and right, you notice that this place is pretty dirty with its soil, it feels rather nice on your vines but it creates some annoying dirt particles if you’re to be hasty.

Trying as hard to avoid traps you tiptoe around the corners of the room carefully grabbing all the walls that you can, when you reach the door, you put your head next to it… to hear some muffled but noticeably savage growls, there’s something outside, and it sounds VERY hungry.

Before getting time to think more about that situation you keep on grabbing the walls when… the wall moves mechanically to the side! You’ve discovered a hidden passage!

Happy with your performance you peppily cross down the narrow path and open up slowly to see in your peripheral four dog things glaring and growling at a small passage, if you recall those are Jackals?

That growl is the same as the one you heard through the door, they clearly are waiting to ambush anyone unfortunate enough to enter through the main entrance. To your left there’s some money laying on the floor as well as a potion with some green substance, an odd looking plant and a very small crevice that you think you could fit into with some hefty trouble.

Though you feel at first that that’s a bit extreme even for you, she’s just showing off to you so she’s asking for it. Hmph, sorry mom but you’ve got business here!

“SORRY mom I’ve got to findget this crazy magical amulet that can grante me anything i want and so, and, so, so yeah. Bye catch you later.” you make a lot of unnecessary vine motions while saying this.

Mom contorts backwards hearing this. “TREE , IF NOT, FOX, IF TREE, DIRTFOX” she screeches in her loud voice. Whatever mom. You casually bump your face into the wall while walking away. Didn't hurt one bit.

Opening your eyes again, things seem… a little less interesting.

A bat is eerily close to you. When did that happen? You guess your mom is gone?

So could we say, try to chomp the snake and stab it, or divert our dagger to the bat if the chomp kills the snake. With all your focus on the simultaneous attack, and the snake being gone, your dagger attack ends up clashing with the ground but you manage to stop your buckler from clashing with the extra time. Hearing the bat lunge and shield ready, you brace yourself hastily.

No more annoying critters. Your vines still feel a little sore from all those demanding attacks, but it’ll probably go away given some time.

Now that you can inspect the room with care you notice a limped human with blood long dried shooting out of an empty eye of his, his body looks rather well preserved as well, you wonder if he’s alive. There were also three scrolls laying down close to him and a broken rusted dagger.

You wond-

A voice echoes through the dungeon can be heard “HEEEY! W-Is anyone there?! Heelp! Puh-lease! They’re- It’s- have some compassion for ga-ha-huhod’s saaakee!” sounds like an adult man, but a rather pathetic one.

“Doooow’ gwould ya shad up before I stab ye?!” A rather grumbled deep voice responds, it doesn’t sound human.

“No… I…” the pathetic man voice seems to die down. These guys are being pretty loud if you can hear them from here. All the voices are coming from the intersection in front of you.

Well that’s odd. What should you proceed to do now?

You consider simply looting the limped dead looking man but its suspiciously fresh state and alluring leftovers leave much doubt in your mind if this thing is truly dead. While you’ve only heard of them in tales and song, this dungeon has shown you to be strange enough to contain such things.

Before jamming the scrolls inside your knapsack, you lightly inspect them for any type of oddity, you don’t spot anything out of the ordinary other than them being a little torn and aged. After which you then get close to the presumptive cadaver and with watchful maneuvering scavenge for anything in his ripped knapsack, finding what you presume to be poison tipped green darts and 5 pence. Your small knapsack is getting a bit stuffy.

GOT: [5 PENCE] [4 POISON TIPPED DARTS] [2 RED SEALED SCROLL] [1 BLUE SEALED SCROLL]

Deciding that even at the state it is in it’d be even worse to leave behind, you delicately snatch the chipped rusty dagger from the stiff grasp of its previous owner. Quickly scraping the wall with it, you figure it’s somewhat serviceable despite being nicked.

EQUIPPED: [Rusty dagger - 1d4-1] ON LEFT LOWER VINE [3RD VINE]

Noticing the bat paste you made, you figure it’d be a waste to not eat such an exquisite dish made by yours truly!

You gather the bat’s scattered remains and eat them.

You take precaution in making noise and creep over towards the voices you previously heard, whoever these people are, you can’t be sure they’re going to welcome you with open arms. Some soft sobbing is audible, it kind of sounds like that man you heard before, and you are able to determine that it’s coming from above.

At a glance in the new environment you spot a packaged ration of hardtack on top of a wooden stool, but being here to see what’s going on;

You peer over the wall…

There is a type of even more primitive looking goblin visible. It is wielding a slingshot, some crude leather armor and has a bag holstered. Behind it is an iron cage with a human inside. Both of them have yet to spot you.

The dungeon wall is blocking your vision so you can’t really get a good look at what’s beyond without possibly breaking your cover by being in the open.

All the previous time spent let your vines rest, and you feel back in shape!

That breastplate it's wearing could get in your way of piercing its flesh and preferring to skirmish your victims anyways, you decide to toy with your prey instead to see if you can get an upper hand.

You hunch over and tilt your head like a curious but hungry animal, getting in a standstill for a couple seconds, only staring coldly into him. He’s frozen in your presence, his eyes staring intensely back at you. So you decide to change that, you huff up and by exhaling that air from the crevices in your mouth you make a hissing like noise.

The goblin whimpers. “OH, PEOGH!!” he yells while trying to crawl away, dropping his mace on the floor in the act.

That’s rich.

Reveling in your feral gig, you holster your buckler and swiftly take out a poisoned dart from your sack, preparing to throw it at the cowering goblin.

While viciousness runs more in your latex, you ultimately conclude you can’t always have your iniquitous fun, they talked something about a boss before? You’d rather not deal with even more of these guys, not with them knowing you’re there at least.

With a plan of action premeditated you give chase to your fleeing prey boisterously, guiding yourself with the blood trail left behind!

You hear a feeble gasping cough closeby.

You catch up and spot the goblin, limping his body, now swollen arm clenched tightly, he seems to have heard your ruckus and turns his head back like with uncanny reaction.

Deciding to give him a scare and test the waters in case he tries something you quickly thrust the air in front of him with your iron dagger. He winces at your feint, puffs up his chest and closes his eyes.

But that wasn’t your real intention, was it?

Just as he opens he starts to open his mouth you lunge for a voracious bite!

[The Goblin is dead.]

The goblin falls unceremoniously to the hard soil, making a loud thud from his breastplate clashing on it. His body twitching slightly before settling down. With that being over, you finish munching on your small meal.

Yuck! You felt a slight taste of pork at the beginning but it ended up being super bitter afterwards! This flesh tastes terrible...

First, drag the two bodies to outside the cage. If someone comes we can hide behind the pillar and their attention will be immediately drawn to the corpses which gives us an ample opportunity to ambush them. After the corpse dragging, talk to the humie in the cage and then we can free him.

Sneering at the thought of setting up a macabre snare, you start dragging away the goblin’s corpse to outside the cage perimeters. Oof! This thing is a bit hefty for you! Bit messy, but you manage to tough it out with time. The smaller gob’s body isn’t as heavy as this one so you do it rather quickly compared to the other one.

Snapping your front vines together after a long job well done, this humie's got your attention now. While thinking he was a bit too pitiful, you can’t be so judgemental having experienced that type of verdict first hand, deciding to at least have some type of conversation with him.

But…oops. You instinctively hunch over. Maybe killing those guys might have left him with a bad impression. Shiiiiiit. You weren’t always the greatest at this type of thing. Well, no use arguing over it. You nonchalantly drag your vines towards him hoping to make it clear to him you’re totally down to have a talk and are certainly no murderer.

As you think about what you're going to say, you notice the look on his face. He isn’t looking directly at you, or seemingly anything for that matter. His gaze… it is like looking at an empty hall, the sunken pupils reflecting no sort of vibrancy, no target, just being a large one-way tunnel closed off of any light.

That complicates things. So… what now?

Hey QM, is unsealing a scroll dangerous or is it just sealed so it doesn't spill over?
>>
>>5971303
[Unsealing a scroll as far as you know with your experience of having scrolls of fog yourself, will simply make whatever the scroll was intended to do seep out or start to take effect, meaning it’ll be as dangerous as what the scroll was going to do.]

You ponder over how exactly you’re going to snap this guy out of this state he’s in… and you literally snap your vines together to get him to at least flinch!

FW’TAAA

The human flinches and straightens up.

“AAH! WHAT OH FUCK!”

Nice. He lost that dumbfounded stare of his. Wasting no second you start to speak;
“Hey! Human. Your captors are dead.”

His voice quivering “Wha- did-oh… I’m next right? Fuck… just… just do it, I just, can’t anymore.” Figures he assumed that about you.

“Nono wait, you see uhhh, goblins are hmm-” Whats that word that humans like using? sub? sub-human! “..subhuman. Yes. They are simply big insects to me. It’s like swatting or eating an annoying fly y’know?” you can’t help but notice the puckered squinted face he makes while you’re talking. You exhale some air in slight frustration at the scenario. “Basically, I’m no murderer okay?”

“O-okay? Soooo you’re NOT going t-to kill me?” he does some wavy finger motions towards you while backing away as much as he can.

“No.” You say bluntly. Hmph. If you wanted to, you think you could make your vines reach inside the small space dividing the metallic bars, so he’s quite oblivious to his real situation

Regardless you reckon you could get some use out of this human if he starts becoming more willing to cooperate. “Look. Let’s get you free’d up, alright? You know where the key is?”

He backs up to the wall. “Uhhh. N-no? You could err, m-maybe lo-… they. They knocked me out cold so I didn’t see where they had it by the time I woke up…”

“Alright.” Looks like he doesn’t seem to know. The chest probably has something so you first check on the goblin corpses just incase, turning them over with your vines to see if they had something else on them. The small one still has his bag of rocks tied up, and the heavy one didn’t seem to have anything else on him.

Turning back to the chest you kick it a little to hear if it has a lock or something worse on it. Little quick trick you used to do back in the day. Getting a good listen, the chest doesn’t seem to be locked or anything, only containing items of a sort. So you open it and see;

A thick iron key
An Iron shortsword
An Iron buckler
An empty small knapsack
A reddish fruity smelling potion
2 shillings
Some kind of wand

A slight cold breeze envelopes you after opening the chest. The artifact grabs your attention. Tilting your head to get a good look at it, it has 4 “lines” glowing with a light blue hue on its lower half. There are 3 more lines below it but they don’t have that blue glow the other ones have.

If this is some of the stuff that they took from that human, you reckon it could prove better to leave it in your personal possession. The only thing that you immediately grab being the iron key.

What will be your next action?

Works like a charm. However you turn it back and close it again, this time approaching the aloof human. “Look, I want to get you out of the cage, really. But!... If I’m going to, ya’ need to tell me what exactly that wand lookin’ thing is” you say this with utmost sass.

“The- Wa? Oo-hohoh! You mean my wand! Y-yes uhh, It’s a magical wand that I bought off the… ehh market! Oh man, I really should’ve used that thing when I had the chance!”

He seems to like going on a tangent. “Sureeey’ but, hey-” You do your favorite vine snapping technique “I’m not gettin’ any info.” you say coldly. “Ah- well…” he audibly gulps.

“D-did you get a look at it? er-It’s like an explosy ice wand. The sky blue rectangles represent a… magical charge of sorts. You’re supposed to uhhh- thrust it while gripping it… and… it’ll release a huge dangerous explosion of ice in front of you. y-yeah…hopefully they haven’t used it all.”

“Hmph. Okay.” You hold your vines to your hip. “How's’ about that red potion?” He scratches the back of his ear “ T-that’s… my… curing potion. It’s supposed to be able to rid disease while healing your insides a nice amount…”

That sounds like a mighty fine thing to add to your repertoire, but before doing so you ask him one final thing. “Alrriight. You seem to know your potions, no? How about this one” You take out your unidentified green potion and show it to him;
“Tell me what this weird green potion does and you’re out.” He’s making that stupid face again, but then catches himself and frantically stares back at you and the potion. “I-uh, oh, man, m-maybe It’s a regeneration potion? Nanana- i-it’s an intelligence one! Wait-wait m-mayhaps it’s a-”

“That’s enough.” you cut his babbling off. This clearly isn’t going anywhere but it was worth a shot in your eyes. “Oh b-but” the glow in his eyes fading. Moving away from him you say “I’ll release you anyways.” He then lets out an exuberant sigh while holding his chest.

You can take whatever's left.”

He still is staying a good distance from you but has a light smile on his face. “Ah... Man. Thanks a ton. I-I honestly thought you were- n-no offense! Some… irrational creature if you will”

“I’ve’ gotten that, and I think I do it prei’ good too”

“Hahaha… yeah…” he scratches his head “Uhh- my name’s Rodney. Rodney Wichman... I’m not particularly into introductions, but… figured it's the least I can provide, apart from… well. the fee...”

You move out of the entrance to give him space to go towards the chest.
“You’re quite odd, how’d you even get in this situation in the first place?” He doesn’t say or do anything until you eventually do a vine gesture towards the chest.

He talks as he starts rummaging through the chest and equipping or saving anything he can.
“Well… to make a long story short, I dunno if you heard about the amulet that they say is here, but I was planning on getting it… It’s why I gambled all my money on that wand to make my life easier. I was exploring the lower parts around here and saw a shiny looking potion, cool right? But as soon as I went for it… these goddamn goblins sprinted and just HAMMERED me man!” He makes an exaggerated pummeling motion with his hand. “Like, fuck! “And well the rest you’d know how it went. They told me their big ugly green boss was going to eat me alive! ALIIVEE! If i’m going to be eaten, let it be dead for the love of god! Even being gutted by some other green guy was starting to seem like a better deal than that!” That wasn’t short at all.

“That’s weirdly flattering and oh, ever so sad. But I’m a plant lass, for your information. Maybe even vegetable lass if you guys think of it differently.”

“Huh? You’re?- You uh- ah okay, well-” he seems surprised and you hear him mumble some words under his breath while looking away from you. “cerl-don-act-like-wan…” immediately clearing his throat afterwards;

“Well, my apologies, la-ahem. Miss Vine. I again tha-” You raise one vine firmly “Hold up.” you hadn’t thought about it before but he could have an idea of what these scrolls you picked up do. “Do you know what these scrolls do?” You take out one red scroll and another blue one to display them to him.

“Now now, I’m no mag-” you glare at him before he even finishes. “I- y-yeah let me see…” He holds his hand to his chin while looking at them. “Ain’t that red seal one an identify one? Pretty sure I saw it being sold as that in the magic shop I passed once, of course I didn’t buy it cause they were selling it for like a whole cow! Greedy bastards. I don’t know how exactly it works but it should give you sum m-a-g-i-c-a-l-l-y transfered knowledge over things close to your body.”

So an identify scroll? “How’s about the blue one then?” he squints at it “Uhh- I wouldn’t really know, sorry.” How disappointing. You put the scrolls back in your sack.

Whatever this strange type of courting is, it cannot be natural! Deciding to put a stop to the charade you take out a non-lethal dart as a forewarning to this vixen that certain things, like this human for example, are meant to be used to YOUR advantage. “Maan…Wha- hey what’s g-” The humanoid grips Rodney by his cheeks, turning him around to her gaze, antenna pointing towards him while doing so. “FOCUS.” she yells with a rotten tone.

Rodney tries to struggle before going limp again. She then hides behind him as cover “You dirty grass harpy! Have at you!” she vindictively points a finger at you and yells “Kill her!”

The human turns around with a lifeless look and starts to approach you steadfastly!

Dangit. What now?

Hide behind the wall and use our vine physiology to climb it up and hide in the corner between the wall and ceiling. If that's impossible back off to where rodney can't see us, grab some dirt, throw it in his face, hen run past him and shoot this charmstress with the wand.

Another plan would be to still throw some shit in rodney's eyes and then use a smoke scroll before rushing the woman with daggers and buckler in hand

A surge of plans floods your mind as the adrenaline of this turn of events pumps you up!
Looks like your thanks for the charity you had towards the human is going to be repaid in a nasty way and you don’t want him anywhere near you for that. So you scatter quickly to hide behind the dungeon wall, the hard soil not feeling nice whatsoever, and to make things worse, your buckler almost slows down your progress.

But with your tender vines neatly being able to fit in most little brick looking crevices, you manage to climb up to the ceiling with ease! While the human’s movement is not sluggish his awareness seems dulled. Taking advantage of this you hide in the corner up top.

You could get used to this type of thing

While it was no big deal scaling up to the ceiling, you feel like you’re not going to be able to hold on like this for much too long.

The human rather clumsily looks around in his immediate peripheral and eventually moves past you, not once bothering to look up. Gracefully, you pounce towards the wall to be able to spot the charmstress, she is taken aback at your new position and seemingly paralyzed!

You can’t hold on to the wall much longer!

You don’t exactly know the power of this wand, but you’re willing to give it a test run with her!

You unholster your wand from your belt and…

That wand... it’s a work of art. Creating a mesmerizing visage composed of every fiber of a previously alive being, the crimson liquid seeping in every crevice it could, the flesh seemingly still pulsing with every vibrance it used to have, decorating the dungeon halls… you almost feel like you’ve accomplished a hidden accomplishment in your life, to be able to see this, truly you are thankful.

All the killings before this you feel built up to this moment. In your euphoria, you get a surge of ideas to attempt to replicate this type of instance, or to facilitate the accomplishment of one…

You have a fleeting thought of honing in on your fiendish tactics, but ultimately decide that those moments when your prey never knew of their premeditated demise… those are the ones that you most desire to gruesomely take pleasure in. Those that dare to live will in time know your name…

You try to remember what was your usual method was and change things appropriately while fiddling with your weapons;

Perhaps there is something to be done on the way you thrust your dagger, yes… the back of something’s neck, you killed an animal instantly like that once… the sharp edge of the blade, certainly you could orient your weapon in such a way before time and put more force into the initial attack… twisting the edge could let you cut them up in a nice way once you have them.

This will do. You found a better way to fiddle with your form of attack before an ambush!

OPPORTUNIST: Attacks done on unaware/uncapacitated targets gain a deadly bonus and multiply the damage by x3 or x4 depending on method. [Applies only to 1 weapon/object attack, highest damage takes priority unless specified]

Ah. You wished you had more in you but your ecstatic state fades away after that time, not letting you relish in more schemes.

“Gaah… w-what-where is everybody…” you turn around to see the human starting to lift himself from the ground, your sneer still not wiped from your face. He is curiously looking around, before contemplating the flesh close to him and your personal masterpiece in front of him. “HOL-GWAAAAAGH-” he pukes out some yellowish fleshy substance.

“O-h-oh BGGGG-” he pukes yet again. You find this somewhat upsetting. “Gaah… hah…” he wipes his barf clean off “W-wha… whad the FUCK…” he looks towards your direction. “The wand… y-ou… stay… stay away!” There he goes. He storms off in a nearby room downwards.

You consider what to do but you are interrupted by… serene whistling. It starts off strong and dies down in a melodic way, like the call a woodsman does for its mutt, you can’t lie that it’s a bit alluring, though it sounds far away.

...Now what should you do about this?

These sound distractions are starting to get on your nerves… you feel like there might be some interesting stuff you’ve missed from being so in the motions since meeting that human.

In fact, the human’s loud footsteps accompanied by iron clanging steer further away from your hearing. Bah. Even as a dedicated meatshield, this meek guy is more trouble than he’s worth. At least he proved useful by letting you… “borrow” this great artifact of harmonious doomsday.

Regardless, you feel like you must investigate what exactly is going on now. This whistling… You really hope it’s not a woodsman, the ones you’ve met, while you personally liked their attitude, are known to be… pretty non-amiable whenever interacting with outsiders and be extremely territorial. What could one be doing here if so?

You sneak & peek around the corner to see if you can get a glance of whatever’s making this noise. And see… no living entity. Nothing outside of a wooden ornamented chest laying there. The coast looking clear, you take advantage to look around your area and of interest, can only spot the lone naked dried corpse of a human inside a nearby cubbyhole to your left.

The noise stopped but you felt like it was further away than in your vicinity.What do you do or go to from this?

Thinking of luring out whatever creature may lurk outside your sight, and no rocks being near you, you improvise and throw a chunk of flesh from the charmstress that was around you near the chest! Surely a more beastly type of monster will react or be attracted by it.

The flesh chunk makes a splatting noise when hitting the ground and you think you catch what sounds like some rings clanging together briefly as soon as it does.

You expected something more interesting, but something about that was off. Silence again fills the room.

What’s next for you?

You go back to grab another chunk of flesh and chuck it directly at the pretty chest this time around. You hear the thud of the flesh colliding with the wooden structure accompanied yet again by that jingly noise you heard before, with a really low sound of a blow of air afterwards.

With the dead silence, the sounds emitted from different directions let you discern that the jingling alongside the blow of air came more towards the direction in the tunnel near the chest.

You’re having a bit of fun throwing things despite the possible circumstances.

As you prepare for your climbing maneuver thinking of the perfect way of scaling the wall in a skillfull silent manner one of your lower vines twists making you lose balance, changing your trajectory! You save yourself from bumping to the ceiling with your extra upper appendages but in doing so accidentally knock your buckler to the wall, creating a small but high pitched clang!

T’ang

You hear a gnarly battlecry from the tunnel “GRAAAAAAAAAH!”

CLINK!

A creature comes out from the tunnel and violently clashes its poleaxe against the hard brick wall, the wall screeching after the fact. Getting a quick look at it, those bloodshot eyes and large tusks… there’s no doubt! That's an Orc! You’ve not seen one yourself before and really would rather not see any more of their ugly swine face. You instinctively flinch back from the whole ordeal and back up to the upper wall.

He looks up and spots you after his attack missed. “Whad are yo-” “Grah! Tha flesh I’m throwin’ nhext iz YOURS! You.. whatevha’ you are!” he takes a lower battle ready stance and tightly grips his weapon making some jingling noise from all his quick motions. His weapon looks a bit ruined, possibly from the way he scraped the wall with it.

He’s wearing chainmail, some leather pants & shoes and is wielding a chipped iron poleaxe.

You’re in quite the tight spot.You need to do something.

Your eyes squinting to damage them at least as possible, you can see the orc coughing while still holding his ground. Turning his weapon with precaution.

“Hakgh! Gakh! Hya’ fukhen plhant!” He's having some trouble breathing with the smoke.

You find that purely thrilling.

That chainmail he has on him… it’s not gonna let you rend his flesh as easily, you’re going to have to impale him if you were to attack him directly. Regardless you recognize it’s your opportunity to strike despite him being so fidgety.

You slither towards the cautious orc and lunge for an all-in attack! In spite of you being knowledable of traversing the mists, this smoke is giving your sight a hard time!

The smoke seems to have him really lost! You start by bashing the Orc's stomach, leaving him gasping for air, then after plunging your iron dagger near the side of the orc's collarbone, in which he winces in pain! You're not done just yet however, and you give one last stab near his chest.

CRAACK!

Your orientation wasn't favorable as well as the act of piercing this tough armor… your rusty dagger finally gives in and breaks apart after the attack! Goodbye dagger.

[LOST RUSTY DAGGER]

You step back after the vigorous assault expecting him to respond in some way with your position being revealed despite the smokescreen.

The orc growls ferociously and prepares what you can tell is a wide horizontal swing coming directly to your left!

You have to respond to this incoming attack in some way!

The orc swings your way and you spring yourself down into a split! He put way too much brute force into the swing leaving him extremely vulnerable after the missed attack, you’re not one to NOT take advantage of such an exquisite opportunity and easily trip him up due to his lack of balance.

He falls chin down to the hard old ground, and starts wheezing like a pig before going silent! Eat floor-dust you disgusting tusk toothed orange hog of putridness! Keheh! The smoke has done a great job of weakening your prey although it has started to dissipate by now.

You have a magnificent scheme. Since they’re so piglike, you figure, why not treat them as such? Wonderful.

You kick the orc to turn him over on his belly, and using two vines to hold your dagger to give it more raw force, with a refined yet savage technique you apply enough power to be able to rip apart a bit the chainmail, it seems like this armor is a bit brittle. It being no use to you, you throw away the chainmail leaving the full stomach exposed.

Running your dagger smoothly along the orc’s stomach, blood and organs start to slowly seep out, as if squirming. Accompanying it is a squeal from the orc himself, looks like they’re not so different from hogs after all. He starts convulsing back and forth, and once you finish the whole stomach haphazardly you figured you might as well make it stop and are curious as to how it would be to split open a body top to bottom.

You slide your dagger throughout the flesh of the orc in one swoop, making him open up like an oyster. Blood, guts, organs and glory… It's truly fascinating to see how these creatures' inner workings look every time for you, you just can’t get enough of that crimson pink mix. Matter of fact all this work has left you hungry! While not as good as lizard in your opinion, you liked pig a lot back in the day, this will be a good reunion.

Hmmm. It’s got a savory pork and beef taste with pork beating it by a mile. The guts might be your favorite part with how squishy and soft they are, but overall you like the taste of this! But you feel a bit better in terms of physical exertion so it’s whatever. You stretch out your vines in relief and pump yourself up a bit. A good meal and a good kill? What a steal!

As you finally dedicate some time to resting you try to think about what really is it that you would do with the amulet? If you had all the wealth you wanted what would you really use it for? You’ve given it some thought beforehand but never stopped to think about it thoroughly.

Perhaps you could buy a fancy abode and settle down?… no… you’ve been shunned by the public, sure. But the nomadic lifestyle that you’ve had to develop from it has grown on you, the fleeting but strong relationships you’ve developed have left an impact on you. Perhaps “Meepis” will live on longer post-amulet. Heh.

Anyways you’ve had enough time to gather your thoughts. Your belly back into its natural state and your vines ready to lunge, you launch yourself back into standing up and get ready to see what’s inside the chest.

You do your trademarked kick to the chest to get a good idea of what’s inside and if it’s locked. And hear… barely something. It sounds like it hardly has anything, only being able to hear what sounds like some coins jingling and a type of crumbly sound.

Opening the chest, you find a note and some money in it.

It’s shaky handwriting reads as follows. “ hav transferd al the stuf on to mein hall rember to mov chet later “ It is signed by… “Gorock”. You turn it around to see if it has anything written behind and get nothing. Well that’s useless. Looks like you can’t always strike gold on these chests, usually the good ones are locked up for a reason. Not like that would stop you.

You stash the cash on your sack and move on.

[GOT 6 PENCE]

Being in sight of the tunnel you turn towards it to get at least a glance at what comes after. You see a really fading warm orange hued light and a wooden door all the way at the back. Not being any of your business at the moment, you brush it off and prepare to go back to the crevice.

There’s a jackal corpse alongside the now mauled cadaver of the bloodshot human you borrowed some equipment from. Looks like the jackal choked on something by the fumes on its mouth. You silently look over the tunnel by the crevice and see a trail of blood on the distant floor leading down as well as a torn bat corpse.

Not convinced and curious, you move a little to be able to get a good angle to peer into the next room. There’s one of those gross pollen plants again! You reckon they’re the cause behind your weird hallucination you experienced before. Next to him are the bitten corpses of a giant rat, a cockroach, and a torn up one of a robed goblin. And finally you think you see as well a blue colored potion vial and two jars enveloped with some writing that you can’t read from this distance they’ve got some type of liquid on them.

Some of the soil here is fertile but it looks like it was stomped by someone judging by the amount of footprints left, there’s some shoe footprints and animal ones, animal ones being the most prevalent.

An animal like whimpering and panting can be softly heard from the direction where there seems to be the trail of fresher looking blood.

Curious. What will you undertake now?

Excessive torture and brutal killings were looked down upon and considered dishonorful & disrespectful to nature and life itself. You walk towards the rocks in the corners and stash them as neatly as you can, these hefty things could prove useful at some point. Turning your gaze towards the loot, gah. It’s that plant… you are not taking any chances with it! That was one too many hallucinogenic experiences for you. Crawling over towards the corpses with precious looking items clinging yourself to the floor as to make as large of a distance and height as you can between you and that guy.

You arrive next to the items and give them a good look. The jar’s cover has a red cross on it, and its tag reads in small letters: “Restorative for bruising & scratches - Produced by Gamma’s”. So some type of ointment? Interesting. Not being able to tell what’s going on with the potion, you get it closer to you, and… It smells super strong! Ugwaaa! What a stench!

You noticed the potion as well feels a bit cool on your vines and the liquid inside is a bit more swirly than the norm. Instinctively you attempt to stash them, but, dratz!

Your knapsack is full as can be! Anything more and it would all just spill out and fall.

[INVENTORY: Your knapsack has [6.0] worth of space inside it. All of it is divided by 6 blocks of [1.0]. Currently [A-3] is the one with [0.16]’s worth of space left.]

KNAPSACK INVENTORY [FULL]:

Pollen plant [0.1]
5 Quivered darts [0.3] {5 = 1.5}
3 Poisoned darts [0.3] {3 = 0.9}
1 Scroll of smoke [0.2]
17 Pence [0.020] {17 = 0.34}

Green potion [0.8]
2 Identify scrolls [0.2] {2 = 0.4}
1 Blue scroll [0.2]
2 Rocks [0.5] {2 = 1.0}

TOTAL SPACE USED = 5.84
SPACE LEFT = 0.16
You look back at the items on your vine as well as the floor and reckon the two jars would be about [0.4] each and the potion [0.8].

You look towards the corpses lying on the ground and wonder if you should devour them for sport, they might give you a good supply of sustenance while you’re on your way to unexplored terrain. You usually didn’t check for the safety of eating corpses due to your high resistance to any natural or unnatural venoms most wilderness would have.

But this dungeon being so puzzling in its nature, doubt circles your mind. You’ll leave the eating pending, but don’t see any immediate reason for them being unsafe to eat other than it’s kind of gross something already had their go at it.

Khyah… This sack of yours is really showing its weight and lack of space with these rocks you put in it. Who even needs that much of these things? Not you! That’s for sure. You take out and lay down one of the rocks in your sack to make space for more shiny looking, less heavy things. [TOOK OUT 1 ROCK -[0.5] ]

Perhaps you could outright create a bigger knapsack with some makeshift leather made out of your foes skins? You know that it’s quite the lengthy process despite never getting into leatherwork yourself. Regardless, the preposition lingers in you.

It’s about time you got some use of those identify scrolls you’ve been carrying around.
Multiple thoughts surge your mind about what to identify, should you identify that one scroll you got, or mayhaps the potions? Hmmmm. First you should see how these identify scrolls work anyways.

You carefully unseal the scroll and it shines blindingly on you. A flash of pure white fills your sight, then fading to complete darkness. You hear unintelligible soft whispers as small bright lights with what look like small flimsy appendages attached to their circle body surround your everywhere, approaching, observing.

They get closer to you, circling you. They start whispering again and you can understand them now. It sounds like multiple people, varying in pitch, tone and cadence are talking as one. All sounding distantly familiar yet unrecognizable.

“highbrow. we bestow upon you our enlightenment. it will let you understand things from an intricate point of view. the knowledge that you desire upon something. you will have to touch them with your palm to gain access to their current state.

The lights start circling you again and fly above into nothingness. Your regular vision returns and you can see your previous surroundings again. That was weird.

You get a funny feeling on your upper vines, they feel like they’ve been surged with some type of power within and are emitting a fading light. Somehow you just recognize that if you were to touch something right about now with intent and force you’d gain intrinsicate knowledge over it, but as soon as it is acquired the feeling will fade on every single powered appendage of yours.

How should you go about identifying?

What an experience, huh? You thought that scroll might have just been a trap, but it was oddly comforting. Anyways, overall you decide that the green potion you found sometime ago piqued your interest quite a bit since you found it, so if anything’s getting identified first, it’s got to be that!
You take out the green potion and hold it with force as thoughts about identifying it fill your mind… you feel a surge of arcane knowledge pierce directly through your mind! Woa!

This is a potion of lignification. It will change the cellular structure of the drinker and transfigure them temporarily to a hardy tree like being, replacing arms with branches that can hold things, the body with a strong trunk and the legs with unwavering roots. Most equipment will meld into them with the exclusion of things hosting other items inside them, anything held on “hand” will not be consumed. The hard roots, attaching themselves forcefully to the ground, will not permit any type of movement, not even anything that would displace the drinker through cellular restructure, that said, it will typically increase vigor and constitution significantly in the 20-30 minutes it lasts before the drinker turns back to their previous form.

IDENTIFIED: POTION OF LIGNIFICATION

As you finish applying identification to the item, your glow of enlightenment fades at a fast rate on all of your upper vines. You exhale softly from the effort. Getting the potion identification was like remembering something long forgotten that you didn’t even know existed.
Well that was a bit fun. You wonder if you should read the other.

What’s the next step on the road?

This newfound potion is certainly intriguing! You wonder what type of situation would call for its use or would be a good way to use it adeptly. You think about maybe identifying the scroll too but leave it at that and decide to instead use your last identify scroll on the potion. Here we go again.

You unseal the red scroll but do not go through the same motions you previously went, after the flash, you only hear deep within conscious “use it wisely, highbrow.” as your appendages bask in the afterglow yet again. Well that saves you some trouble.

Touching the blue potion on the floor with intent you gain intrinsic knowledge over it!

This is a “Might” potion, the drinker’s upper muscle tendons or equivalent will expand drastically, giving the superb strength for some time, it seems to only apply that strength in more direct physical actions like swinging or thrusting so, it’s more effective use in-combat would be to use it in a close quarter setting, though it’s boost is so great that it also can enhance other physical actions if they require the use of their upper appendages.

[LOST 1 IDENTIFY SCROLL] -{0.2}

Your upper vines lose their glow of enlightenment yet again at the same rate. That’s a magnificent potion. You go ahead and stash it immediately after investing so much on it, not like this ghoul is gonna need it!

[GOT 1 MIGHT POTION] {0.8}

You plan to move on back to where you were before, but… hold on. Those bloodstains do intrigue you, and you DID hear something through the corner, so you might as well check it out. Maybe after you check them out you also could eat that human corpse you borrowed that rusty dagger sometime ago from, and speaking of humans, wonder what happened to that cowardly human that loaned you the wand? Eh. Not like it matters to you or anything.

Peering over the corner you spot one jackal feebly laying down on its side, it looks to be panting fastly and still alive, but it is clearly taking its last breaths and bleeding out from some deep wounds.

The immediate coast being clear you look behind you and see the on the ground a bloodbath, there are 2 slashed jackal corpses, ripped leather pieces near their mouth, shredded small rags scattering the floor that look like the ones that goblin corpse from before had worn, and the torn pieces of a small knapsack with what looks like some type of small brown book with it.

The lone jackal’s wheezing is growing ever softer. What type of initiative will you decide on?

Either Flatfoot went on an anxiety induced murderous rampage, or someone as vicious as us is walking around the dungeon slaughtering everything in sight. We gotta keep our guard up, it was here not that long ago.

Judging by the way things ended up around here, you can’t help but feel like there might be another presence lurking about the dungeon, is there something in here that matches your cunning or raw violence? You shiver at the thought and get a little excited as well. Pondering more over it though, it could be that flatfoot wandered around here from his outburst. You mean, he sure had some money! You remember letting him off with his 2 shillings, but darn, that’s enough to buy like, two sheep! Not to mention this artifact… that’s legally yours now of course, is probably expensive in its own right.

Hmm if anything you’d be more surprised if he managed to get himself killed despite being so geared, he clearly had the funds to afford some hefty equipment despite his awful demeanor.
Bah, enough about him, you got a buffet waiting for you right here! You didn’t make it, but food is food!

You nibble on the still live jackal and eat some of its flesh while it's still panting, it only jitters its hind legs a little while you feast on it before going back to its “to be dead” state. You get a bit of a kick from this.

[NIBBLED FOR 1 HP]

[JACKAL HP = 1]

Unlike the live flesh you ate from that goblin awhile ago, this one’s got more of a nice texture to it, the taste is reminiscent of a soft blend between beef and mutton, kind of like that bat you ate. Quite a good combination here if you do say so yourself! The fur is barely getting in your way so you thoroughly enjoy your chunk of savory soft flesh.

[SATIATION: A LITTLE SATISFIED]

[NICE TASTING +1] [SMALL CHUNK]

[OVERHEALED = +1 EX HP]

Despite trying to make sense of the situation, you still keep your guard up just in the case that other probability of danger happens. You first look around your surroundings again, and go towards the dead jackals to your left in order to inspect what really is it that they have on their mouths. As you look towards their mouths, you notice that it’s just some leather pieces that have been thoroughly ripped, not permitting any type of discernibility towards what their quality previously was, perhaps if they were nicer looking and not covered in spit you could maybe say they were from the human’s leather pants.

Well, no use whining over it, you turn around to inspect the book that you saw, maybe it’s an ancient spellbook or something? Though you’re being a little too grandiose over it.

You pick up the book and take a peek at it. The cover has “Ijyb’s Journo” inscribed on it.

As you skim through the pages there looks to only be one singular page that has anything, actually written on it, being only the first one. It reads;

“XVI, Marhc III

Hello joournal, it’s I, Ijyb, master priestess apprentice hobgoblin! !

this journal is for me to rekord all my expriences and findigns of my everyday life at the dungeon. aS of now, ive ben tasked with trying getting some supplies for any batles we would have, but dats boring!

Waht i wanted to talk register was that priest Roka has been teaching me ways to conjure the smithen justize of Peogh! I alawsys mess it up but i think am learning, somtimes i lose my vewi of my target and cant even do it! he’s also bein teachin me to write too so, i wana show him this journo one day! ! !

ay ask Blorgth if he can cover the entrance by daytime wen i come back, he said da bozz called ihm an Gebb over or sometin and dat he couldnt… stupid boss. am just gonna go caus i have to anywayz.

be back later - Ijyb “

And… that’s all she wrote. It’s written in mostly OK grammar, and the handwriting is surprisingly well done, a huge step up to the one you read before from that dumb note. You remember hearing something about a green ugly thing before. Wonder what it could be?

You leave the journal behind and start thinking of your next move. You hear a small thud in your vicinity. Looks like the wounded jackal has completely stopped moving.

[JACKAL HP = 0 ]

You contemplate if you might as well eat the recently deceased jackal whole even if it fills you up quite a bit, or see if you should reconsider the ointments in the previous room’s value and do some inventory reorganization.

Whatever it may be, what should you actually do?

You can’t help but feel a bit lost with all this exploring you’ve been doing and try to call back your mental map of how the rooms you’ve explored so far have looked like, you’ve named them in a practical way to remember them easily, but you could always change it if you’re feeling a bit more motivated for it.

You deeply focus your mind to recall your location with your mental map for things you’ve encountered…

[LOST -2 MP]

Getting some parchment to put this mental map of yours on would put a bit less strain on you if you ever tried to recall it, but for now this will have to do. You’ve made special effort to remember what some particular rooms of interest had.

Room 5-A [ o= Orc lower body corpse, yellow square= Chipped halberd, c= Empty ornamented chest]

Room 5 [%=1 Food ration (Hardtack) {0.4}, g I= Small goblin, g II= Heavy goblin ]

Room 4 [ Orange wide square= Table with some paper written, Orange small square= Stool , Yellow small square= Iron mace , blue small square= {1.0} Slingshot and {0.6} bag of small rocks, c= Empty chest ]

Room 3-C [ p= Pollen plant, c= Giant Cockroach [Mauled corpse], g= Goblin [Robed mauled corpse], r= Giant rat [Mauled corpse] , Pink square = {0.4 each} 2 Restorative Ointments, brown square = Rock ]

Room 3-B [h= Bloodshot human corpse, j= Foaming jackal corpse. b= Minced bat, += Tight crevice]
Room 2-C [ j I = Eaten slashed jackal corpse, j II= Neck cut jackal corpse, j III = Guts spilled jackal corpse, brown square= {0.6} Ijyb’s Journal ]

Looks like just about every room has been investigated, and the ones that haven’t you thiiink they couldn’t possibly have anything interesting, right? Not like you would know, really, but checking around everywhere blindly could have its downsides in terms of time spent.

Those ointments that were scattered on the floor are a little too useful to pass by. But you’re full as can be! Hmmm.

Oh! You got it! The skin from that jackal that you ate might be just the perfect solution. You ready your dagger to cut into its skin with diligence, making a small circle composed of animal hide, of which you then slice with more finesse, resulting in a full strip of raw animal hide. This thing has no inherent strength or consistency by itself so you pull its sides as much as you can in order to give it more firmness.

With help of your existing holster it’ll ease putting them on your hip. Feeling like you won’t be needing to come back for more hide, you devour the remaining parts of the jackal, leaving only the head, due to the brain sometimes tasting terribly weird.

SATIATION: More than satisfied

[NICE TASTING +1]

[OVERHEALED = +1 EX HP]

You go back to the room with the jars and holster one on each of your sides. Using the animal hide strip as reinforcement and tying the ends firmly so as to not have it accidently fall over.

Room 4-C being so close, you casually stroll by it, every room with something interesting seemingly being explored you figure you can take your time in investigating with some care the tunnel.

You begin hugging and patting the wall to check for any kind of flimsy brick on the layout that could have something hidden. You finish searching throught the rightmost part and find nothing. Undeterred, you press on towards the front wall. At this point you are pretty much bumping your head into the wall to be able to detect any hint of a disturbance and…

You find one! Two bricks on top of each other fall down as you push your way through the walls, revealing a small room. Managing to force yourself into the tight room, you step on something hard but flimsy unlike the soil and hear a ghastly voice inside your head. “CONSAADIER OFNMO THUAMARGY READ AND CONJURIATION AOCAN BE YOURJss” the voice sounds distorted and faded, like it’s on its last legs despite sounding so unnatural. Looking down where you stepped, it looks like it’s a withered book, there are some runic looking ornaments on the edges that have lost any pigmentation they might’ve had a long time ago.

As you step back to not continue stomping on the book, you bump your back into the wall and another set of bricks falls down, looks like you discovered a shortcut towards "room 5-B"!

That book is certainly intriguing but, your satchel no way being able to house such an enormous book to review it at a later time, you wonder if you should just leave it for now, or perhaps take a look at it?

The choices to be made are yours.

Read it, we can conjuration!

Are there more than 1 floor QM?
>>

I'm guessing it doesn't teach us conjuration exactly but just lets use summon whatever spirit/thing that is currently attached to the book, im also guessing it's semi cursed so we probably can't get rid of it once we read the book or some other wacky catch like damage sharing or something.

Or maybe i'm just overthinking things >>5998802 +1 what's the worst that can happen?

This raggedy book looks particularly ominous… you think over whether you should read it with it talking to you just a minute ago. There might be some type of malicious spirit inhabiting it, and first appearances can lie… in fact maybe… Maybe you’re overthinking things.

After all, what have you got to lose right now? You pick up the book and gently start to turn over the pages, suddenly, your upper vines tremble, your body shakes, you try to let the book go but it is practically glued to you. Before you start to think of more ways to release yourself you get zapped directly into your mind!

WILL = 3 [-3 DRAIN & DAMAGE]
[LOST 6 HP]
[LOST 6 MP]

[[DRAINED]]
[ MAX HP TEMPORARILY REDUCED BY 2 ]
[ MAX MP TEMPORARILY REDUCED BY 4 ]

KAAAAAAH!! That hurts! Khhha. That hurt so much…

You retort in pain, your lower vines weaken due to the trauma and you fall face first to the floor. As you slowly collect your panting self, you look up, the arcane book is flipping its pages violently. You get a headache as it speaks directly to you.

THANK YOUJC OFUR OOPERINATIOJ. YOU CAN CHOOSE IF GIFT CONUJRATION T YOU. OR. BE GUARDIAN OVER YOU.

IF GUARDIAN I IMPART MYSELF TO YOU. ALL HURT WILL FIRST ATTACK YOUR ENVELOPED ENERGY BEFORE YOUR REAL SELF.

IF CONJURATION. YOU WILL BE ABLE TO LAERN ANYTHING IN ME INSTANTLY. THOUGH YOU MIGHT FAIL TO USE THEM SOMETIMES. WITH YOU PARTICULARLY… IT COULD FAIL ONE FOURTH OR HALF THE TIME. WITH PRACTICE YOU CAN REDUCE THAT.

THE CONJURATIONS ARE …
FREEZE TOUCH. LEST YOU FILL WITH DEATH COLD YOUR HANDS. VALUING IN 1
BLINK. LETS YOU RANDOMLY TELEPORT IN A NEARBY AREA. VALUING IN 2
FLAME TONGUE. SPIT FLAME WITH YOUR MOUTH. VALUING IN 2
DAZZLING FLASH. EMMIT RADIANCE FROM YOUR BODY BLINDINGS THOSE THAT CAN SEE. VALUING IN 3
DRAIN BOLT. SHOOT A BOLT OF NECROTIC ENERGY FROM YOUR PALMS THAT DRAINS THE RECIPIENTS. VALUING IN 3

YOU WOULD ONLY HAVE 3 VALUE. SO ANYTHING THAT BYPASSES YOUR 3 VALUE IS NOT ELIGIBLE. SO. NOW. TELL ME YOUR CHOICE CHILD. “

That’s a lot to take in… especially with your current state this thing left you in. You try to turn back your head from the book but it's like there’s a force stopping you from doing it.

[CHOOSE ONE] Looks like you’re going to reluctantly have to make a choice.

>I choose the guardian.
>I choose conjurations. [Which ones?] [You would only would have 3 spell points to use]

This will help us with survivability which is our biggest weakness

>>I choose the guardian.
Support the guardian, we already have our maw that requires MP

Going for guardian. This is the biggest boon for our rather fragile build

OP, you should know that we're on page 9
